John
Lennon, or the big dollop or J Boy or Captain Plonker or a multitude
of other names was one of the nicest dogs ever to grace the Dakross
ranks, he was a really gangly, rangy pup, but he had the most outgoing
nature and ring presence I thought he was worth waiting for as
regards maturing up, he always had the most wonderful head and
expression, so kind and correct.
This fabulous dog was almost unshown as he ruptured a cruciate
ligament at a year old and a second one at the age of 2 and
a half and was never
sound enough to be shown, I felt this was such a shame as he was a
super dog both in conformation and had the most wonderful
character and temperament
you could wish for, I feel sure that he would have followed in his
dad’s
footprints and been made up to Champion, maybe that is me being sentimental
but looking at him as a judge I think he would have.
He died far too young at the age of 7 and a half, he had developed
tummy problems as a result of his medication and had a massive gastric
bleed,
we let him go to save him further pain on Saturday 4th August 2007,
even though his medication contributed to his death I have no regrets
about
giving him it as it gave him 6 and a half years of comfortable life,
my regret is that it caused him so much pain at the end.
He was a true gentleman……………….RIP
J Boy, you were one special lad.
This photo above is him as a gangly 6 month old boy without
a care in the world, I like to remember him like this.
