Tim
was the second dog kept from my first litter, he was kept simply
because he was the tiny one, almost
hand reared as
he only weighed 8oz at birth, which was half size to the rest of
the litter, all the family became so attached to him it was impossible
to let him go, he really was an ugly duckling as a youngster but
he grew into a big upstanding dog with plenty of ring presence and
attitude. He went to live with my sister and her two daughters at
around 4 months of age as we really didn’t think he would ever
be good enough to show but it soon became obvious that he was a good
show prospect and so I used to borrow him for some shows and in all
fairness, he managed to do a good deal of winning, including a Best
In Show all breeds, and although he was almost always overshadowed
by his brother, he did still managed to win one CC at the age of
5, which was great but to be honest, if I had left Bodie out of the
ring for a while when he gained his Show Champion title, I may possibly
have managed to get Tim’s for him, you never know. His highest
ever placing at Crufts was a second prize in the Veteran dog class
at the age of 8, he did start to age much younger than Bodie and
his aches and pains meant that he wasn’t as sound and so he
was retired from the ring much earlier than his brother, he still
lived to be just over 12 and a half though and a thoroughly grand
old gentleman he was too. |
